Still (Matt Nathanson)

Not that I can relate to every aspect of this song, but every time it plays on my shuffle, I feel that it musically resonates with me.

Still--Matt Nathanson
I remember hearts that beat yeah, yeah
I remember you and me,yeah, oh yeah
Tangled in hotel sheets
You wore me out
You wore me out

I remember honey lips and words so true
I remember nonstop earthquake dreams of you
You're coming on fast like good dreams do
All night long

Still can feel you kiss me love
Still can see your brown skin shine, shine
Still can feel you kiss me love
Come on and drive me wild (me wild)

And you move like water, yeah
And you broke like waves
I've never been deeper, so far gone
Your sister in the next room with the television on

Still can feel you kiss me love
Still can see your brown skin shine, shine
Still can feel you kiss me love
Come on and drive me wild
Come on and drive me wild
Come on and drive me wild

I remember hearts that beat,yeah
I remember you and me
Tangled in hotel sheets (for hours)

Still can feel you kiss me love
Still can see your brown skin shine, shine
Still can feel you kiss me love
Come on and drive me wild

Still can feel you kiss me love
Still can see your eyes like diamonds, diamonds
Memories are strong enough
To come on and drive me wild
Come on and drive me wild

Feeling the Same Way

Familiarity with music is such a wonderful thing. There's something warm and comforting about a song that reminds you of easy, good times. Norah Jones' debut album reminds me of my middle school days...

The sun just slipped its note below my door
And I can't hide beneath my sheets
I've read the words before so now I know
time has come again for me

And I'm feelin' the same way all over again
Feelin' the same way all over again
Singin' the same lines all over again
No matter how much I pretend

Another day that I can't find my head
My feet don't look like they're my own
I'll try and find the floor below to stand
I hope I reach it once again

And I'm feelin' the same way all over again
Feelin' the same way all over again
Singin' the same lines all over again
No matter how much I pretend

so many times i've wondered where i've gone
and how i found my way back in
i look around awhile for something lost
maybe i'll find it in the end

And I'm feelin' the same way all over again
Feelin' the same way all over again
Singin' the same lines all over again
No matter how much I pretend

"Sunrise"

I've always loved Norah Jones' lyrics about nature and the seasons... She has a beautiful way with words.. and her folksy music just sounds like "home."

"Sunrise" (Norah Jones)

Sunrise, sunrise
Looks like mornin' in your eyes
But the clocks held 9:15 for hours
Sunrise, sunrise
Couldn't tempt us if it tried
'Cause the afternoon's already come and gone

And I said hoo...
To you

Surprise, surprise
Couldn't find it in your eyes
But I'm sure it's written all over my face
Surprise, surprise
Never something I could hide
When I see we made it through another day

And I said hoo...
To you

Now good night
Throw its cover down
On me again
Ooh and if I'm right
It's the only way
To bring me back

Dive In

It is a gorgeous day... and this song came on my shuffle. It is perfect for my life right now.

Dive In (Dave Matthews Band)

I saw a man on the side of the road
with a sign that read 'will work for food'
Tried to look busy, 'til the light turned green

I saw a bear on TV and his friends were all drowning
cause their homes were turning to water

A strange, kinda sad, big old bear
surely would happily eat me
he'd tear me to pieces that bear

Wake up sleepy head
I think the suns a little brighter today
Smile and watch the icicles melt away and see the water rising...
Summers here to stay, and all those summer games will last forever
Go down to the shore, kick off your shoes, dive in the empty ocean.

Tell me everything will be OK if I just stay on my knees and keep praying
believing in something
Tell me everything is all taken care of by those qualified to take care of it all.

Wake up sleepy head
I think the suns a little brighter today

[ From: http://www.metrolyrics.com/dive-in-lyrics-dave-matthews-band.html ]

Smile and watch the icicles melt away and see the waters rising
Summers here to stay, and that sweet summer breeze will blow forever
Go down to the shore, kick off your shoes, dive in the empty ocean

One day, do you think we'll wake up in a world on it's way to getting better?
and if so can you tell me
how?

I have been thinking that lately the blood is increasing
the tourniquets not keeping hold in spite of our twisting
though we would like to believe we are
we are not in control
though we would love to believe

Wake up sleepy head
I think the suns a little brighter today
Smile and watch the icicles melt away and see the water rising...
Summers here to stay, and those sweet summer girls will dance forever
Go down to the shore, kick off your shoes, dive in the empty ocean.

7 Baboker

Yael Naim is best known for her "I'm a New Soul" song. Her self-entitled album is full of beautiful and even innovative music (Ever heard her cover of Brittany Spears' 'Toxic'?) Anyway, she sings in Hebrew.... This song "7 Baboker" (7 in the morning) is simple... and takes my breath away

Here are the original lyrics:

Can't read that?
Here's the English translation, thanks to Sing365

7 A.M.
Until the sun goes dark at 7 a.m. I’ll swim in your sweetness
Until the sea cries at 7 a.m. I’ll touch the wounds in me, from you
Until the storm devours us I’ll dance inside it
Until love decided on us, to walk inside it
Until the storm devours us I’ll dance inside it
Until love decided on us, to walk inside it, to walk inside it, to give birth inside it

Feeling the Pull

Feeling the Pull (Swell Season)

Well I'm heading back to pack a bag To head out on the road To take away what I know is mine And I'm running down and past the yellow house with Joe Into the breeze Where no one seems to care And I'm feeling the pull Dragging me off again And I'm feeling so small against the sky tonight Well stories of an open line And every time we work ourselves up into a rage We smash and grab We pull the handle No one says but everyone wants to be the one just climbing out And I'm feeling the pull Dragging me off again And I'm feeling so small against the big sky tonight Tonight Yeah And I'm feeling the pull Dragging me off again And I'm feeling so small against the big sky tonight And I'm feeling the pull Dragging me on again And I'm feeling so small against the big moon in the sky tonight Tonight Oh

A New Chapter

I really don't have "a way with words"... Especially typing them...
But that's certainly okay, because some people have a gift of using words to inspire, uplift, and change people, so I want to share the words that inspire/uplift/positively change me.

Norah Jones has a folksy-soul sound that always makes me feel grounded. Her voice and simple, yet impressive piano skills always leave me in a better mood than before I listened.

"The Prettiest Thing" (Norah Jones)

The prettiest thing
I ever did see
Was lightening from the top of a cloud
Moving through the dark a million miles an hour
With somewhere to be

So why does it seem
Like a picture
Hanging up on someone else's wall
Lately I haven't been myself at all
It's heavy on my mind

I'm dreaming again
Like I've always been
And way down low
I know

The prettiest thing
I ever did see
Was dusty as the handle on the door
Rusty as a nail stuck in the old pine floor
Looks like home to me

I'm dreaming again
Like I've always been
And way down low
I'm thinkin' of the prettiest thing
